What Crypto Can You Deposit on Polymarket?
Polymarket accepts USDC as its primary deposit asset on the Polygon blockchain. Direct deposits of ETH, BTC, and other digital assets are not supported. That said, UK-based traders holding alternative cryptocurrencies can readily convert to USDC through either a decentralised exchange or a traditional crypto platform before funding their account.
How to Convert ETH to USDC for Polymarket
- Via a CEX (easiest): Trade ETH for USDC on platforms like Coinbase or Kraken, then withdraw the USDC to a Polygon address
- Via Uniswap on Polygon: Move ETH onto Polygon using the official bridge, then exchange it for USDC through Uniswap's interface
- Via 1inch: Compares swap rates across numerous Polygon-based decentralised exchanges to find optimal pricing
USDC Networks: Polygon vs Ethereum
Polymarket operates exclusively with Polygon-native USDC and does not accept bridged versions. Ensure your USDC transfer targets the Polygon network specifically, not the Ethereum mainnet. Transferring ERC-20 USDC from Ethereum to a Polygon address will lead to permanent loss of your funds.
- ✅ Polygon USDC (MATIC network) → use this
- ⚠️ Ethereum USDC (ERC-20) → requires bridging before use on Polymarket
Can You Deposit BTC on Polymarket?
Direct BTC deposits are unavailable. You must first exchange your BTC for USDC through a UK-regulated exchange, then send the resulting USDC on Polygon to your account. Most conversions complete within half an hour after your exchange identity verification is confirmed.
Minimum Crypto Deposit
Polymarket does not impose a strict deposit floor. A realistic minimum sits around $5 in USDC, which allows for transaction fees whilst preserving sufficient capital for active trading.
